Moving on to Washington,
President Barack Obama urged
Congress to extend unemployment benefits
in the country again.
The US President said in his weekly address this past Saturday that
1.3 million Americans will lose their assistance
due to being out of work if Congress doesn't vote to approve this issue
before the session closes for the Christmas holiday.
President Obama said that life for these people
will become treacherous if
US Congress members, who are mostly Republicans
don't agree to extend unemployment benefits.
The Congressional Budget Office
which is non-partisan showed expectations that
if Congress votes for extending the time for unemployment benefits, it will negatively impact
the country's economic growth next year.
But President Barack Obama said that
extending benefits for the unemployed
is not only the right thing to do
but it's the intelligent thing
to do for the country's economy.
