It's certain that people in Vietnam's rice industry
would be happy to be named the number one exporter of rice this year
and know that an important condition
to be able to maintain this position going forward
is the climate and global rice demand.
But officials in Vietnam insist that
their objective of maintaining their position as the world's top rice exporter
is less important than accelerating support for
additional high quality rice production
for supporting the market
and both domestic and international needs in the future.
