Since the latest protest, there have been reform proposals from various groups
including from the Prime Minister herself,
some proposals, like greater government transparency
and to quash the buying of votes in elections
appear to have received broad support from the public.
But economist Adam Burke said that
deep structural improvements, like power decentralization
and giving greater independence to local governments
face resistance from both government and opposition parties
who are controlled by small, wealthy groups of people.
And the influences of these people are being felt in the protests that are going on
at this time in Bangkok.
