The World Bank estimates that in 2012
Bangkok's contribution to gross domestic product
for the country equalled 26%
but government spending for Bangkok reached 70%.
Veronique Salze-Lozac’h, Asia Foundation economist, commented that
decentralizing power and spending funds wisely
on important needs like education
will require political reform.
This economist from the Asia Foundation said that
we know the economic reforms that are needed,
but they haven't happened because of some political blockings.
And that really, it's an issue of finding a way to include people who have economic roles
to enter into the decision making process.
