The division between city and rural people is often the explanation
that's used for the political division in Thailand.
But economists say that there is also an income disparity that persists
even though Thailand has had great economic growth
which Professor Pasuk Pongpaichit says
is a major problem for the country's future.
This Chulalongkorn economist continued saying that
the fundamental problem are the huge inequalities in Thai society
and the people at the top level
are used to reaping every benefit
from government spending and policies,
creating a reaction when democracy started working.
This report is only an attempt to explain
how economic disparities bring about disparities in other areas,
which could have a negative impact on economic growth, especially
in the quality of education and on the issue of wages.
