Pope Benedict the 16th
astonished high-level Roman Catholic leaders
during a meeting today at Vatican City
when he announced that he will renounce his position as religious leader
for health reasons.
He said that these days a Pope must be able to
perform his duties vigorously
which include traveling the world
and meeting with Roman Catholic clergymen almost every day.
But his health
has not been up to these tasks
especially in these last few months.
