The violent incidents across the border between Israel and the Gaza Strip these past few weeks
put more emphasis on the importance of autonomous military technology
when Israel brought their automated ballistic missile defense system, or Iron Dome,
to use in defending rockets from the Gaza Strip.
At the same time US troops operating in Afghanistan
brought remote controlled vehicles and airplanes
used with continuously greater frequency in waging war
for reconnaissance, target identification, and attacks.
