This world disaster report states that
last year was the year that had the highest damage costs from world disasters in 10 years.
Although in reality, last year's natural disasters happened less frequently than previous years.
The report indicates that in 2011
natural disasters occurred 336 times
with damage costs totaling more than
365.5 billion dollars.
Half of these damage costs
came from the earthquake and tsunami
in Japan from March of last year.
